Doug E. has written such an encouraging word that I wanted to share it with the whole church. (That is why I posted it on the back of last weeks bulliten.) It is called “10 Ways for Pastors to Hinder the Church” Though is titled this way, it is actually the way pastors are hindering some local churches today. You may ask, “Why would you tell us something that pastors need to here? I am just a church member.” There are at least two reasons.
1. Because it helps the church understand what good preaching is and is not.
- In a day when so much hog-wash (to use a technical term) gets labeled as preaching, it is important to uphold what real preaching is.
2. Because it reminds churches to be in prayer for their pastor.
- It is important for churches to prayer for their pastor since he is not above failure. He is often under pressure to compomise. Pray for me to always preach the truth with boldness. It is my desire that every pastor would preach the gospel with such a boldness and passion that the Holy Spirit brings revival, repentance, and renewal. Pray for your pastor, but pray for pastors of other churches as well.
